Dave & Lois; I have enjoyed watching the two of you since you returned to KCRA News. I’ve enjoyed your daily exchanges that would lighten up the mood, especially when Lois was able to pull one over on Dave. You will be missed, the news just won’t be the same.

As a former Board member for the Society of Professional Journalists, we often called on you two to host our awards events and you ALWAYS said yes, even though you had to run back to the studio and do the 11 o’clock news.
Everyone always commented how down-to-earth you are and I couldn’t agree more.
I also appreciate your committment to animals as an SPCA Committee member and animal-lover. Thank you for everything!

You guys will be missed here and I know that no one else will be able to fill your shoes. I hope you enjoy your retirement and have health and happiness for the rest of your lives.

  12. Angi Sargent Says:

You’ve been “the news” to me for more years than I even want to count, and, selfishly, I’m so sorry to see you go. I’ve always counted on you to deliver what I needed to know in a professional way, and the interviews you’ve conducted always included questions I wanted answered. For your hard work, I wish you every happiness and joy in your retirement, and if you ever decide to make a reappearance, I would be really glad to see you again.
Thank you for all you’ve done for Sacramento and for me.
    Angi

Dave & Lois – We also are a husband/wife team and have been married for 16 years, working for 25 together. We have so enjoyed watching the unspoken innuendo’s you passed along to each other – it took us very little time to figure you were married when we started watching you. We wish you all the very best in retirement, but know how greatly you will be missed by so many.

Dave & Lois, We have watched you on the news for many years and always enjoyed your light-hearted comments. You made the news a joy to watch. Your playfulness came through the TV and even at the end of a tiring day, you made us smile. When we moved to Texas at the end of 2005, one of the things we missed the most was watching you. You know how people get used to a certain news station and have their favorites…..well, you two were ours. We wish you both the best in your retirement and enjoy your next stage of your journey through life. We will miss you even more now because we know that you will not be there on our favorite Ch. 3. You’re relationship together is so much like ours, and we understand the twinkle in your eyes, Dave, and the cute little underlying jabs, Lois, when you interact with each other! Now all we have to go home to, besides each other (of course) is our dog and our cats! We truly wish you the best in all you go on to do, be it working at maybe a part time job, or lying on a beach somewhere! Please don’t let whoever takes your place forget us up here in Pioneer! God Bless you both – Bill and Brenda :o )

I am really saddened by this news. I have watched KCRA for so many years, I can’t belileve you will not be there. I have really enjoyed watching you too over the years, knowing you were married, and obviousely a happy couple, just seemed to make the news that much more personal. I don’t know how to explain it. But you will be sorely missed!!!

  90. Charlene Says:

Dear Dave and Lois: I just moved back to Sacto this month after being away for several years. I was SO happy to tune in and see my favorite news team were still here. And now I’m SO sad to hear you are leaving. You will be missed so very much. No one does it better than you 2! I wish you many wonderful years of retirement. They have certainly been earned and are well deserved.

  91. Ric Says:

Hey kids, I know what dedication is… Thanks for sharing yours. I have been in the film and video business for 20 years and if your not dedicated… You won’t make it. Good luck my friends. Samuel London Productions. Natomas.

You two were always at your best when coupled with Mark Finan. Congratulations! Donner Lake beckons.

  93. Dear Dave and Lois,

I have lived in Sacramento since 1976, about the time the two of you arrived. As I was rearing my children and watching my grandchildren arrive, you have been our constant source of information.

I have routinely turned to the two of you for your professionalism, insight and strength. Your ability to balance journalistic integrity with amiability, without giving into the contemporary style of ingenuous casualness, has helped to maintain my deep respect for both of you.

Thank you for every story and minute on our screen. Best of luck to the two of you in your future endeavors. You will be deeply missed.

  94. Janet Vavra Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois:

  96. Lori Gilbert Says:

Dave and Lois – Congrats! I’ve watched you since the 70’s and remember when some of your wedding footage was shown. I was hoping that would be part of the videos shown. My husband is from Montana and when there, we could barely get through the local news. We just couldn’t wait to get back to Dave and Lois. Just know how much everyone enjoyed your professionalism, knowledge and humor. It will truely be missed. You have certainly earned this, so enjoy your retirement!!

  97. Sabrina Garcia Says:

You cannot go! You seem to be two of the most professional, objective, and even-tempered journalists on TV. I will surely miss your good manners in dealing with all the stories that go on in our world.

  107. Jim & Gloria Rose Says:

Congratulations to both of you. We are in the Chico area and have truly enjoyed your sense of humor and interaction with each other. True the news is not always funny, but your wit helps relieve tense issues. Best of everything.

  108. Deanne Says:

Dave & Lois — wow. I’m speechless and a little emotional at the thought of you two not being a daily part of my life. I just figured you’d always be around, much the same way that I assume Willard Scott will wish me Happy 100th bday (although I think he’d be about 130).

Although you’ll truly be missed by everyone in the area, I wish you nothing but the best in your retirement — HAVE A BLAST!!!

  109. Diana Says:

Dave and Lois- We will miss you both. You are KCRA and the reason we have watched for so many years. We always crack up with your witty remarks at the end of a strange story.

  111. Rob Lerman Says:

    Dave & Lois,

You will be missed by all of us faithful viewers out here.

I personally remember sometime after you both came back to Sacramento, at the time I worked for KRAK radio and I was working along side of you at the old Arco Arena handing out something from McDonalds. We sure had lots of fun then.

    Good luck in your retirement!

    Rob Lerman

  112. Dave and Lois; thank you for all the fun and insight you brought to the news. We have enjoyed the banter between you and Dave. KCRA is the only news we have watche for the 37 years we have been married. Also I have watched KCRA since the beginng. God bless you and may you have a super retirement.

  114. Kelly Daggett Says:

Dave and Lois: Thank you for reporting the news with integrity! My parent’s, siblings and I, watched your daily newscast with great admiration and respect. The topics at times were very difficult to report and you did so with eloquence each and every time. Your attention and dedication to delivering the news as it unfolded takes a person with both of your poise and non-bias stature. As a professional, traveling has been a big part of my career and I can tell you that the two of you are heads and shoulders above the newscaster’s in other highend markets! Cudos to KCRA for having the best of the best right here in Sacramento. You have been mentors to many and are hero’s in my mind and heart. All the best to you as venture into the next phase of lives. Congratulations on all of your successes!

  116. George & Pam Cook Says:

For 20 years we have watched Ch 3 with rabbit ears. 3 comes in fuzzy compared to 10 and 13, but we still watch 3 because of Dave and Lois. Their handling of news defines professionalism. Banter between segments with Mark Finan is very funny and helps lighten tragic news. All recent and newer KCRAers would do well to emulate them both. Best of luck with a well deserved retirement. We’ll miss you both.

  117. teri lowry Says:

  119. Les&Terri Reyes Says:

Congratulations to both of you. You will be missed, you were ones for the evening news. Good luck to you both and happy retirement.

  120. Dianne Malson Says:

Dave and Lois – Congratulations on your impending retirement. Being a recent retiree myself, I can imagine how you are looking forward to participating in your “outside activities”, like your love of skiing, Lois, & Dave’s softball, and other sporting efforts. And Lois, during those horrible bouts with your allergies, just think—you won’t have to worry about looking so good on the Tube. Just pull the covers up over your head and go back to sleep. In all seriousness now, I will miss your wonderful dissemination of the news. I too have been watching you since KOVR days, and will truly miss you. It feels like a family member is moving away. Enjoy your retirement in good health, and have great fun doing whatever you do.

  121. Claire Says:

    Dave and Lois,
I feel like I should print a copy of your portrait and put it up on the family wall.
You will truly be missed. I wish you the best retirement possible.

  122. Sheila Says:

    Dave & Lois
I have many memories of your newscasts but my favorite was either New Years or 4th of July when the bridge in Old Sacramento had just been painted.
The bridge was the backdrop to the broadcast and Dave was commenting on how bad the color was. Lois kept saying “Don’t go there, Dave” but he did anyway!
Yes, I agree – it still looks like the color of a baby diaper!
Have a wonderful retirement – enjoy every minute!

  123. Kevin & Jo Says:

    Dear Dave & Lois,
What a great ride you two have had! The news just will not be the same with out you guys at the helm. We are selfishly sad for
ourselves and the rest of the viewing audience, but send sincere hopes for a stellar next journey!!
Many thanks for all of the great years.
    The Athey Family

  124. Monica Swett Says:

I can’t believe I have been watching you since the 70’s! I have always ended my nights with the both of you. I loved watching your newscasting.Wondering, how you live and work together. How, when there could have been something that one of you were a bit irritated about, impacts your working relationship and you just have to go on tv looking like there is nothing else to deal with but the news. Your professionism was astonding in this regard. I have only recognized a few times there were issues with only slight sarcasms noted.. It was more of a friend type good night. I wish you both the best of times and now you can do what you want, any time you want. Congratulations.

  125. CJ Smith Says:

    Dear Dave & Lois,
What a joy you have been in my life. I could repeat everything everyone has said but I don’t life repeating, so hear’s to you both that you enjoy the rest of your life.
God bless and Thank you for all you’ve done.

  126. Andrea D. Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois,
It became obvious to me how much I enjoyed your newscasts when we had to move to Missouri for four years (1994-1998). Upon returning to Sacramento, after the passing of both my husband’s parents and then himself, it was comforting to see your familiar faces on the news. When the news is so often disheartening, it is somehow more palitable when presented with the great mix of your professionalism and a healthy dose of humor when appropriate. Thank you for your dedication and the very best wishes for the next chapter of your lives!! You will be missed by many!

  127. annie Mcclure Says:

    HEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s the idea???? I cannot have a week nite without you two!! I have been a veiwer since the start at KCRA. Up in these hills you two have brought it all to me with class. The good the bad and the ugly. You both are so dear to me and ya got what No One has at any news desk.

  140. Benjamin R. Schilter Says:

    Dave and Lois,
Thank you so much for the opportunity to visit the KCRA studios and speak with you last May. I really hope everyone enjoyed the profile story I wrote about you two. I would like the opportunity to drop by again sometime. Despite what some of my schoolmates think, I believe the two of you epitomize professional journalism.
I’m sorry I haven’t kept in touch as much as I liked to, but life got in the way.
I received my Associate degree in Journalism this past August and I am now a full-fledged Sacramento State journalism student. The opportunity to speak with you and get to know you has really motivated me to go forward with my journalism career. You’re part of the reason I wanted to pursue journalism to begin with, and I thank you for seeing the potential in me. Whenever I write a news story, for some reason I hear your voice narrating what I’m writing.
Best wishes on your retirement and thank you so much for the inspiration!

Best wishes and enjoy the slopes and golf courses.

  143. Patti Vannucci Says:

So happy trails to you, and of course, you two will have the good groove from then on. And Dave, don’t grow your hair as long as Mr. Ashford!

Dave and Lois–I have lived in the Sacramento area for more than 20 years and (mostly) tuned in to KCRA for my news. Just wanted to say congratulations on your long and fulfilling careers. Your style, class and grace will be missed on the airwaves. Enjoy your retirement–you have definitely earned it!

  168. Rebecca Says:

I started watching Dave and Lois as a child, who would always hear the evening news on in the background, whether it was doing homework, or just hanging out with family. On weekends visiting my father, watching you two was the only sense of normalcy I experienced, and for that, I greatly appreciate it. I am grown up now- a teacher in the bay area. I constantly flip to the stations here, seeing a lot of Sacramento alum, but I have not yet found a pair whom I admired and thoroughly enjoyed as much as the both of you. I love comedy, and Dave’s jokes always made me laugh; even if I was the only one in the room, or in the studio for that matter.

  169. Rick Says:

Lois i was telling my mother how beautiful i think you are,and when i was a little boy and i still think the same, good luck and thank you.

I know that we will see you serving your community and all the other things that you do. Gulfstan and Eddie have some big shoes to fill, but I know that they will make you proud. Sacramento is a better place because of all you give. God Bless……

  171. Karen Says:

I’ve had dinner with Dave and Lois almost every night since I moved to Sacramento.

Looks like now I’ll have to clean up the dining room so I can invite them over in person!

As some others have done, I’d also like to thank Dave & Lois for their willingness to host charity events. We’ll miss you for that, too.

  172. Valerie Davis Says:

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! I have been watching you since your return to Sacramento, and even though we have a choice between Bay Area news and Sacramento news, we ALWAYS watch Dave & Lois on KCRA. I am saddened for us viewers that you will be leaving.

Have a happy retirement, and thank you for all of the years of fantastic reporting.

  175. Laura Klein Says:

Wishing you both the best fun you can even imagine as you enter into retirement. I do have a funny story to share that I’ve already shared with many friends and family.

Quite a few years ago… when my sister and I had just begun our golfing ‘career(s)’, and were fresh off of our “Learning Exhange Golf Classes” — we decided to play a round at Land Park. Of course we were very ‘green’ and VERY intimidated! And of course we were mortified when we were told we were getting paired up with a single golfer. Nerve-wracked and stressed, we approached the 1st tee. After gracious introductions with “Dave” and an unimpressive tee-off, we started walking down the fairway and I asked my sister… “Do you know who “DAVE” is?!?!?!? It’s “Dave Walker from the news!!”

Of course Dave was a VERY GOOD golfer and of course we WERE NOT! I so vividly remember that ENTIRE round! Dave was so gracious… offering helpful tips, trudging through leaves, trees, etc. in search of our wayward balls. And on the 9th hole — halfway down the fairway — while Dave was watching me — I swung and COMPLETELY missed the ball! I didn’t even know what to do – I was mortified!!! I looked up and at that same time… Dave quickly looked away and acted as if he never saw my faux pas! What a sweet man!! He encouraged me to focus, keep my eye on the ball, don’t pull up and give it a go. So I did and actually got a decent shot.

At the end of the game – he shook our hands, told us it was a pleasure meeting us, encouraged us to keep up the sport and told us he enjoyed playing with us. I know he was ‘fibbing’ about the last part. Who enjoys searching for other people’s ball the ENTIRE game?!?!?!?

Happy to say that I’ve kept up the sport and can now actually hold my own. Not saying that I’m a good golfer – but I have my days… Thanks Dave for a great game, and for your patience and encouragement.

When I see you on the news – I always remember that day and laugh!!

Happy Retirement to you both! Have fun – kick up your heels and ENJOY!
    Sincerely,
    Laura Klein

  176. Mark and Terri Johnson Says:

We wish the best for Dave and Lois
our dear friends though they don’t know us.
The millions of us whom they connect
have earned our most sincere respect.
They share our news with charm and grace
in a style and humor you can’t replace.
Their Retirement is sad we must agree
but how great a ride on Channel 3!

  177. Karin Says:

Congrats to you both. I grew up in San Jose and Sacramento. Your faces are always with me. I came back to Ca. after moving to another state and seeing the two of your smiling faces let me know I was back home. You will be missed as now my kids also smile when you are on air. Take care, enjoy, and travel just for the fun:)
    You both shall be missed:(

  178. Richard Forsyth Says:

It will be a sad day in Sacramento when Dave and Lois retire. I can remember when Dave was at channel 13 and Lois of course was at channel 3. I am living in Okalhoma now and I miss their newscast. I just want to say enjoy a well deserved retirement Dave and Lois.

  179. tom Says:

wish you to livee long an prospur, aand please show up from time to time to let kcra fans know your doing well.

    tom

  180. Rich Miller Says:

Dave and Lois, I have been watching you both reporting the news for 1 year after moving to the Sacramento area from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and want to say that you both are very professional and are the best news anchors I have watched ever. My family will miss you both very much but we all wish you a very happy retirement. Thank you.

  181. Tom Giddings Says:

    Congratulations Dave and Lois!
You were the ones we always counted on for news while still in the Sac. area. Although now in Houston, you two will always come to mind and make us homesick. We’ll miss you, but we wish you the very best for the future! Again, congratulations!

  182. Joel Harrison Says:

Dave & Lois: Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting you both formally, I feel like I do know you. Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Fortunately for me, we have exchanged hellos here and there in Sacramento, and I must say, you both are really down to earth people. My comment to you both is that I perceive you to be one of the most honest and believable news reporters of the entire news media industry. You’re very special “folks” that will be truely missed. Please enjoy your retirement, and I hope to see you around Sacramento, from time to time.

  183. Kathy Montez Says:

wow…Dave and Lois retiring….now THATS big news!! it will truly be the end of an era. congratulations to both of you. i’m sorry i won’t be able to see your last broadcast, as i just recently moved to New Mexico. perhaps it will be online!
have a happy retirement, do fun things, sleep in late! thank you for sharing your lives with us.

  184. Diane & Dan Savage Says:

We have watched you on Channel 3 for as long as you have been there. Our grown children watch you because they were raised with Channel 3 News. We will miss you so much but have a great retirement and spend time doing fun things and enjoy your time together. We will truly miss you.

  185. Rick n Vacaville Says:

Thank You for coming into my living room for all these years. You have been a part of our lives at dinner time since the late 70’s.

  186. John Leclercq Says:

I am both sad (for me) and happy (for you) that you are retiring from KCRA nightly news broadcasting. I’ve been watching you since I returned to Sacramento back in 1991, and you have always been a “class act.” Unlike some other newscastors, you were never one (two?) to exaggerate or sensationalize a news story. Your relaxed, yet purely professional, hometown approach to reporting the news kept me a loyal listener all these last 17 years. But as I retired 6 years ago and am now able to really enjoy life with my wife, I hope you (two) too will enjoy many years of retirement doing the things you’ve always wanted to do, yet may not have been able to do because of the constraints of a daily work schedule. Thank you for all your years of service to the Sacramento community.

  187. Jean Boucher Says:

    Dave and Lois:

I have enjoyed watching you since I moved out here from Rochester New York 25 years ago. It has been a joy seeing 2 newcasters who are married to each other and continue protraying the professionalism that comes with their personalities. You have broadcasted the news in a straight forward way and yet you can see that you both don’t take yourselves too seriously. I have enjoyed this. May God Bless you both on your (retirement) and best of luck in the continuing future plans you may have. You will both be truly missed.

  188. Michelle Says:

    Dave and Lois –

Best wishes to you in your retirement! I remember passing you in the halls at KCRA when I was an intern in community relations and you always said, “Hi,” which was a big deal to me. But what stands out most in my mind was passing Lois’ cubicle and seeing a picture of Dave on her desk and thinking how sweet that was and that you both were the “real deal.”

All the best to both of you!

  189. Vivian Walker Says:

Congratulations! I’ve watched you two since the seventies and have always enjoyed both your professionalism and interaction. After living in Sacramento since 1959, I moved to the panhandle of Florida last year. The first thing we were acutely aware of was how much we missed the way you two reported the news. We’re now in Baton Rouge and the reporting is better but still not as good as what we were used to with KCRA. I wish you good luck with any future endeavors.

  190. JOANN COOLEY Says:

Can’t say any more then what has already been said. Have a wonderful RETIREMET !!!!!

  191. Steve and Karen Ames Says:

We have invited you into our home for so many years you are like family. We will miss you terribly but wish you only the best. Don’t be strangers. God bless both of you.

  192. Don and Lynn Amo Says:

We will miss you every night. Thank you for being there to let us know what is going on. We watch KCRA because of the wonderful news people who we belive have integrity and heart. We will continue to watch, but you will be very much missed. Have fun, you have earned it!

  193. Mike and Janet Campasano Says:

Dave and Lois, my wife and I will miss your news coverage very much, you were like a daily staple in our lives. We watch you cover news stories over the many years every day and will miss seeing your faces and hearing your voices. We wish you a long, happy and healthy retirement which you both earned and deserve. KCRA will have to look long and far to fill your shoes. May God Bless You Both

  194. John Says:

I have watched and followed your careers. I watched you before CNN and when you returned to KCRA. You will be greatly missed. Your relaxed and great approach to the way you presented the news was great and will be solely missed by all. Good luck on the retirement

  195. Diana Boyd Says:

Dave & Lois you both will be missed. I have watched you since you came to KCRA and worked with my dad on the noon news. It is the ending of another great news team.

  196. Patty Hanaway Says:

Dave and Lois, I’ve watched you on the news from the very start. Your fantastic interaction made even the worst news watchable. Because my husband and I only watch Channel 3 news, we see you more often than we see any of our family members, so subconsciously we have thought of you as our family.
We’ll always remember Rodeo the dog, who was stuck on the roof of his home during the big Olivehurst flood, and how he was rescued by Live Copter 3 andreunited with his owner while you were anchoring.
    We will miss you.

  197. judie pelletier Says:

what wonderful news for you both. enjoy!!!!

just want to say it has been my pleasure to have had you for dinner companions over the years, thank you. you both will be very missed
    best wishes
    judie

  198. Nancy Says:

Your timing is right for everyone. We are THANKFUL for your years of hard work and dedication!
You will be missed so much by all of us viewers, but you are going out with real class. No one can fill your shoes!
Retirement is hard to get used to, and especially during these difficult times. Just take your time enjoying every moment and know you have earned every bit of it!
We will now count on Mark and Del to keep us going!
Congrats to both of you and we will miss you greatly.
    Nancy

  199. Rich Springs Says:

I remember Lois at KNtV in San Jose I lived in Redwood City at the time. I moved to the Sac area
and hooked up again in 2003. She was a pro then
and a pro at retirement. Tuff shoes to fill.

    Good Luck
    Rich

  200. Terri & Don Says:

    Dave & Lois,

There is not enough space to say how much we have enjoyed watching you two and and how much you both will be missed. You both have been such a delight to watch and we hate to see you go, but CONGRATULATIONS and we wish you the best with your retirement.

  201. Dave and Tami Lockhart Says:

We have lived in Auburn for nearly 20 years and when we first moved here, naturally we had to find a new channel to watch and get the best news coverage from. We began watching KCRA 3 and knew that was the news channel for us and have watched it faithfully ever since. Thank you for being a part of that great coverage and just all-around enjoyable news program to watch. You will truely be missed on our t.v. sets, but you deserve to enjoy some “you” time, so have a great retirement. Also, not to be overlooked, you are such a great inspiration to marriage, congratulations on staying together for so many years, another accomplishment to be so very proud of!

  202. John and Darcy Moehring Says:

Congratulations! Your presence on the air will be greatly missed. My husband and I enjoyed watching you deliver the news, and appreciated watching you occasionally tease each other, in the familiar loving way that happily married couples do. Thanks for letting us be a part of your lives, both professional and personal. You will be missed.

  203. Dave and Lois

Congratulations on your marriage and career. I have been watching you for quite some time and have enjoyed your style, humor and knowledge. Blessings to you both on your continued journey, wherever it may lead you. Enjoy your retirement to the fullest, you both have earned it

  204. Mike Garrels Says:

You’re the BEST ever in Sacramento. The humor & empathy showed every night. Best Wishes, Mike

  205. Dave and Lois-
What’s amazing is you look the same…40 years later. You both have been so instrumental in my career, I have admired you from day one, back at KOVR in the early 1980’s. And now in 2008..we are all retiring. Let’s try to get together and “hoist one” in hornor of surviving a combined 100 years in broadcasting! I will call you when things settle down for you. Good luck, Love ya
    Mike Chamberlin

  206. Debbe Says:

I have truly enjoyed watching you present the news. I love the feeling of friendship and affection that you show to each other. I appreciate the detail you give to the news and how much compassion you show.

I cannot express how much you will be missed but I know that all of us retire sometime. I hope that you enjoy your retirement.

I am sure you know you have been a part of of our lives and have made our day brighter and happier because you were in it.

    Thanks so much.

  207. Diane Bozarth Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois,

Congratulations on your retirement! I was shocked to hear the news, but I guess we all knew that this day would come eventually. We are extremely happy for you two, but at the same time, this is very sad for the viewers of KCRA. Watching the evening news will not be the same without you two. You just have that magic…that captures our attention and makes us feel like you are speaking just to us, in our living room. You have become like our family after all these years. We were thrilled when you came back to Sacramento and to KCRA. Your dedication, professionalism, great husband/wife repore and humor have made you the top news anchors you are. And Dave, we will miss all those cute humorous comments and stories that we’ve heard over the years…you’ve always made us smile. Thank you for that.

Have fun in your retirement, and enjoy every moment of all the wonderful years and adventures that lie ahead.
Thank you again for being a part of our lives for so long…

    All our best,
    Roy & Diane Bozarth

  208. Lance M. Says:

Dave & Lois – I can remember watching you guys on CNN when I was a kid in the Bay Area. I wish you guys well and thank you for coming into our homes each and every night. Thank you!

  209. Claudia Says:

Dave and Lois: Best wishes on your retirement. I will miss watching you. Your broadcasts were always informative and entertaining. Your retirement is a loss for your viewers and for the Sacramento community. Enjoy your retirement.

  210. Denise Guady-Hughes & Family Says:

I remember watching you both on the news in my late teens, and I also remember when you were married. It was like watching a romantic fairy tale. And then you came back to Sac and KCRA and I was excited. It was like seeing ‘old friends’. My kids were 8 & 10 @ the time, and they grew up watching you too (they are now 27 & 25). Our evenings consisted of watching Dave & Lois, and we looked forward to the weather because of the wonderful bantor between you and Dave Finan. Dave has said some funny things throughout the years and that is what made the news more ‘human’, for lack of a better word. You set the bar and although I enjoy the other anchors, nobody will be able to fill your shoes completely. Happy retirement. P.S. In this day and age, it’s been great watching two married people not only work together, but remain together, and it’s so obvious you two love and respect each other deeply. Thank you for that as well.

  211. Lynn D. Says:

I have been watching KCRA since the 70’s. Dave and Lois you are my favorites. You bring a sense of family to the news. I now live in Reno and still watching you! Congratulations, you will be missed.

  212. Cassandra Robson Says:

    Dave and Lois;

I’ve lived my whole life in the Placerville area and I remember growing up with KCRA news in our home and I remember both of you, Dave and Lois, and even though I cannot watch you both on TV I go to the web site because I enjoy your broadcasts, I was born in 1981 and can remember you both from as far back in my childhood as I can remember. You will both be truely missed and on behalf of myself and my family, we wish you both the very best in your retirement and in your lives together!

  213. Bob Betsworth Says:

WOW, what a surprise! We just heard that you two are retiring at the end of the month! Good for you two! My wife and I will miss your warm faces to greet us when we come home each night from work. Change is the only constant, it is funny, change never happens when we are young and want it, but it sure does speed up a bit as we get older! My wife and I wish you many laughs and travels in your retirement. We will miss you both.

    Bob and Gladys

  214. Chris Says:

    Dave and Lois,
Seems like just yesterday I was running camera for you two at CNN… 27 years and I’m still there!
What a great career! Enjoy that ‘easy life’…

  215. Erik Gottlieb and Friends Says:

    Dear Lois & Dave,

You are a shining example of journalistic professionalism and teamwork! Thank you very much for all your years of service to bringing the news to Northern and Central California with knowledge, wit and style.

We hope your retirement is truly golden!

  216. Joyce and Ron Gordon (in Davis) Says:

For the past 10 years we have eaten dinner while watching your 5:00 show…you will be greatly missed! Have a great retirment and, Lois, we hope to see you on the slopes!

  217. Lance Harbridge Says:

Dave & Lois- I remember the day you came to KCRA in 1990 on the weekend newscasts. I was the Chyron operator at the time. Your excellence in broadcast news journalism speaks for itself but I will always remember you two as truly good human beings. You folks were always friendly and treated me well. As we all know, good human beings in the television business are few. I wish you both the very best retirement and happiness. You deserve it!

  218. Joe and Debbie Novakovich Says:

    Dave and Lois,

Our Family has enjoyed watching your newscasts since we moved to Tracy in 1990. You have both become a special part of our lives in our our daily routiene. We have enjoyed your professionalism, humor and playful bantering. You have helped to close out our days with an informative yet hometown feel.

    You will be truely missed.

We wish you all the best in your retirement.

    Joe and Debbie Novakovich
    Tracy

  219. I live in the Los Angeles area, but travel frequently to Sacramento, and I have always watched Dave and Lois on KCRA when I am up there.

I remember them more vividly from their days at CNN and CNBC, but their familiar presence at KCRA always drew me to channel 3 for news when visiting the Capitol.

It won’t be the same at KCRA without them, but I also cannot deny them the enjoyment of a long retirement together. Best of wishes to you both!

  220. Charlotte Says:

Congratulations Dave and Lois! My husband was just saying last week “I wonder when Dave and Lois are going to retire?” My husband is retiring and his last shift ends on November 26th after 30+ years with the Sacramento Fire Department. We watch you on the news every day and wish you and your family all the best in the years to come.

  221. Debbie Gridley-Beard Says:

Dave & Lois – Congrats!! KCRA 3 is THE channel that I watch when I come back to Sacramento to visit. I will miss seeing your smiling faces on the evening news. It will not be the same without you. Best of luck in your retirement, as you have truly earned it. Just know this…the evening news broadcasts will not be the same without you two!! Again, congratulations and best wishes.

  222. Terry & Ada Flanagan Says:

You’ve been great. Enjoy your retirement.

  223. Carl & Pat Dadny Says:

    Hi Dave & Lois
Congratulations on your retirement. We have enjoyed watching you guys over the years, and consider you the very best in the business, the standard for all others to try to meet.
Enjoy your retirement, and the best of luck always
    Carl & Pat Dandy
    Lake Co., Ca

  224. Sue Says:

We will miss you both very much! You have inspired us and delievered the news in a way that no others can do! I wish you the best of luck and fun to come!! Thank you

  225. Karin & Dan Baldwin Says:

We have been watching you for years & really enjoy your broadcast. We will miss seeing you nightly but hope that you will enjoy your retirement, you deserve it. Best wishes.

  226. Charlotte Says:

I’m saddened to hear of your LEAVING; I moved to Sutter Creek from FL in 2000 and quickly made DAVE and LOIS my favorite local news team. Professional but with that genuine and honesty make you special.
GOD BLESS each with HEALTH to enjoy your life of retirement and know you will be missed.

  227. chucksims Says:

you will be greatly missed by us all,IHAVE EXTREME MEMMORIE LOSS BUT I NEVER FOR GOT WHEN YOU AND THE WHOLE GANG WOULD BE ON ,BEST WISHES DAVE AND LOIS,GOD BLESS…

  228. Lois – I want to thank you for helping me back in the early 90s. You came to the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services to talk with me about the disaster d’jour (we had so many in those years!). It was my first TV interview – without being asked, you coached me through my posture, my speaking voice and generally how NOT to look like an idiot on TV. I was so impressed with your desire to have your audience get solid information without being distracted by rooky mistakes! That desire/focus is what, to me, made you and Dave such a special news team – we could always believe what you were saying. Thanks again and may both of you have a WONDERFUL rest of your lives!
Cindy Shamrock (the blonde in the clip of Gov Wilson signing the emergency proclamation for the Oakland Fire on the trunk of the car)

  229. Tosca Says:

    Dave and Lois,

Wish both of you a long and happy retirement. Best Wishes. You will be missed.

  230. Melissa Says:

I haven’t had TV reception in months so this comes as a surprise. I have grown up with Dave and Lois covering every story under the sun. I never knew they were married but it makes sense when you think about them on air. My family moved to Carmichael in 1987 when I was only 2 so they are pretty much the only people I remember.

I hope they continue to have an amazing life together and maybe they can stop by and say hi someday.

Bon Voyage Lois Hart and Dave Walker!!!

  231. John Iacopi Says:

Dave/Lois – get up to Truckee more often. Thanks for a great career in broadcasting. Best, JTI

  232. Calvin Dotson Says:

It has definitely been a pleasure to have such wonderful people as Dave and Lois all these years. They are the reason that I started watching KCRA. Their professionalism with the human touch made them a joy and honor to watch all these years. It took a while to even know that they were married all these years.

They were the “dynamic duo” of television and there will never be another duo like Dave and Lois. Thank you for you many years of news and fun.

It is with heartfelt sadness that you are retiring but you have both more than deserved it. Enjoy you retirement and if you get a notion ever once in a while, stop by the station and make a cameo appearance or something.

    Congratulations!!!!

  233. Sally Hhahner Says:

You are the two guests I invite into my living room each evening. You are so very professional, yet also very human and real. I love when you tease each other, and banter back and forth. Makes it so easy to enjoy you.
Thank you for your years of excellence; you will be greatly missed in this household.

  234. Debbie Says:

Wishing you both the best…but PLEASE DON’T LEAVE!! (Had to try). You two are so much fun to watch and I’m going to miss both of you. Take good care and do enjoy your well deserved retirement!

  235. Chuck Lutz Says:

Dave and Lois, you 2 have been part of my household for alot of years. I had to watch you by computer when I was in the sand, you gave me a part of home when I was away. I wish you both the best in the furture. Enjoy each other and know that your in our hearts and prays. Good Luck and God Bless

  236. Michelle Van Dyke Says:

I actually had the pleasure of meeting both of you briefly about 10 years ago while working a part time job in Arden Mall – Eddie Bauer Home Store. You were in between your early evening and 11:00 p.m newscast when you came in “just looking”. It was my pleasure to meet you both in person and it has been my pleasure to watch the both of you over the years. Not only are you both a professional news team but also genuinely friendly with those you meet. KCRA will definitely not be the same when you retire. However, you both deserve some time off to enjoy your lives and retirement and I wish you the very best in health and happiness and for goodness sakes ENJOY THAT RETIREMENT!! Take care, and you will both be missed my many…

  237. Gene Simmons Says:

Viewers from all over the Sacramento Valley have grown up watching Walker and Hart deliver the news- Since the late ’70s I was one of those viewers. Take care and all the best.

  238. Suzanne Says:

I’m feeling a little “veklempt”, seriously have a tear in my eye.
I hadn’t heard that you were retiring……but good for you.
I’ll certainly miss your great sense of humor, and the obvious husband and wife bantor!
Best of luck to you both!

  239. Ross & Myrna Miller Says:

    Dave & Lois,

Happy Retirement! We have enjoyed your news reports for many years and will miss seeing you every evening. Will you be staying in the Sacramento area? Good luck in your future ventures.

    Your Fairfield neighbors,
    Ross & Myrna Miller

  240. Peaches Sea Says:

I’m sure many people will regale you about your news worthy performances, but I want to let you know that your love and humor shown to each other is what really shined. I will never forget Dave telling you how fetching you looked in your glasses and how you couldn’t help but laugh. My husband John and I wish you all the happiness you can stand. We’ve been married 41 years, after only going together 5 months. He is 66 and I am 60. Humor has lot to do with it.
Best wishes and all that other stuff,
    Peaches Sea

  241. Carol & Greg Lobczowski Says:

    Dave & Lois,

We have watched you both since the start, you make our evening watching the news. We always look forward to your interaction, comedy and great news.

We will miss you greatly and wish you the best in your retirement. Don’t know if we will be able to watch the news anymore, it just won’t be the same.

    Good Luck and God Bless.

  242. Leoland & Doris Osburn Says:

We wish to send you a greeting to have a happy and long retirement. We have enjoyed watching you both each night and enjoy your friendly and easy going style. Our favorite new people to watch . You will missed.

  243. Steve & Sher Guilkey Says:

5 & 6 o’clock will not be the same without you two, we are so used to you having dinner with us everynight. We will miss Dave’s dry wit and Lois’s allergies! Good luck to you both!

  244. Marjorie Says:

    Dave & Lois,
I will certainly miss you both. When I came to CA you were there on KCRA and I have enjoyed the news as you presented it. I just hope that you are not succeeded by a young giggly, silly news man or woman as so many of the stations have done. News is serious business. You presented the proper amount of humor but kept a really classy presentation.
Thank you for your years of service. The VERY best to you both!

  245. Pam from Somerset, CA Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois,

You will be missed terribly, but you have certainly earned the honor of retirement.

May all of your days be filled with more laughter, love and most of all, FUN!

P.S. Has KCRA considered cloning? I hear they have made great strides in the field. We all would love to have you for another 20 years!

  246. Dianne Lucas Says:

DAVE and LOIS–Wow! What a journey. I am an avid viewer of the KCRA 3 News/Weather and have watched the both of you for a great number of years. Watching the KCRA newscast (mornings and evenings/weekends) became a part of my daily routine. I have appreciated your candor, your community-mindedness, professionalism, uniqueness, wittiness, the outstanding character you both demonstrated, and all those other good many qualities all tied up in one awesome package. The both of you have been very well-respected, an inspiration, an icon, an institution of the news broadcasting industry. Funny, it took me a while to actually realize that you were married to one another. I had never seen anything like that. To me, that’s totally awesome! How you could have this life together outside of work, at home as a couple, and then come to work together and perform side by side every day for all these years with such style and classiness is tremendous! Now, that was a huge inspiration for me. It says a great deal about the both of you. Phenomenal!!

I feel that most of us knew the “R” word would come up sooner or later, but I never anticipated this soon. I, too, am saddened to learn of your departure. You will be sorely missed. I just hate that I never had the privilege of meeting you in person while there at KCRA. But who knows, perhaps the future may allow that opportunity one day. I would welcome that!

I listened to some of the comments made by your colleagues there at the station via the video clips and they were RIGHT ON! You are the “veterans”, like none other. Although I am saddened, I wish you both well as you retire. I hope you will continue to make the Sacramento region your home and whatever your plans are, whatever your involvement in the community may be, or wherever your paths may take you, may you continue to realize how much you were appreciated and admired by your audience and what a positive impact you had on us as viewers, and the legacy I’m sure your colleagues will come away with as a result of having worked with you.

Dave/Lois, my prayers are with you. CONGRATULATIONS and may God bless you both!

I first enjoyed the reporting of Dave and Lois while stationed with the Coast Guard on Kodiak Island, Alaska through a then relitively new cable news service called CNN.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Dave and Lois anchoring the news at KCRA Channel 3 when my wife and I retired in Vacaville in 1997.

I wish you both the best of luck for your future and for a great retirement. There IS life after work!

    Mark

  264. Catherine Says:

Lois,it’s a fond memory I have. You were reporting on a story about a rock and roll group from the past. There was a clip of their playing. The camara cuts back and you are grinning and shaking to the beat. Dave is looking at you like you’re from outer space. You look at Dave and say, “Oh Dave, you were just too old”. I have thought of that alot when you two report the news. It always makes me smile and realize the long, wonderful history you’ve had together. I’ll miss you both. Congratulations and good luck.

  265. Nanci Mock Says:

I sure hate to see you go, but you will enjoy your retirement. We just won’t enjoy your retirement. Where on earth will we ever find a news anchor team as delightful as you guys? You’re perfect for each other, and you’re perfect for us. Maybe in a few years you’ll come back. Hey, there’s an idea! Go and enjoy yourselves, and then come back. Dear Dave & Lois,
Wow! I was shocked when I heard you guys were going to leave the station so you could retire. You’re like family to me. You will be missed so much but I can understand the desire to slow down a little bit and enjoy life. You deserve it. Have a great time in all you do in retirement.

My cousin is an anchor on ABC Channel 7 in San Francisco. Her name is Cheryl Jennings. She has taught me alot about what news people do and how interesting your job can be at all times.

    Again, congratulations.

  267. Michele Lea Says:

Dave and Lois… you will be missed so very much. I have been an avid fan throughout your careers. Though I don’t know you personally, I feel like I do, because you both come across as sincere, fun people on-screen. I have especially enjoyed your sense of humor and easy banter that makes the news a pleasure to watch. Your knowledge and intelligence comes through in a way that anyone can relate to. It is apparent that you love what you do. It is said that no one is indispensable… but I would disagree, because KCRA just won’t be the same without you. What will Mark Finan do without you to tease, Lois? Have a wonderful rest of your life… with much love, happiness and good health.

  268. Dave & Eileen Walker Says:

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! You have both been a joy to watch over the years. Laura, Bruce and Lucian

  276. Susan Seiler Says:

I was very sad to learn you will retire. Who can replace you? We moved to your viewing area in 1991 and started watching KCRA much because of you. I like your sense of humor, and the fact news doesn’t seem delivered, it feels like you both are talking to me and to each other. You are more than TV anchors, you are, in a way, all of our anchors, particularly when things are difficult or frightening. I listen to you for the truth and to reconcile what’s going on. Thanks for all you’ve done and enjoy retirement! You will be missed, preparing dinner won’t be the same anymore.

  277. Bj Hicks Says:

I am not much of a news watcher, and do not get home very often at an hour to watch the news, however when I do it is always Dave and Lois that I watch. Truly professional in every aspect and their interaction with each other makes the news good or bad, better. You will be missed.

  278. Jerry & claire Tyson Says:

I will miss you and I know it will be difficult, if not impossible, to replace you. Enjoy your new retirement lives and don’t forget us. We won’t forget you!

  288. Dave and Lois,
Debbie and I watched you on TV since 1986. You were both a joy to watch due to your honesty, integrity, and subliminal marital laughter. I want you to know that I consider you a true humanitarian. I will never forget the 2 times in my life that you consoled me on the loss of my only brother and mother to cancer. You went from a respected customer to an immediate friend. If you don’t know already, your voice is recognized throughout the Northern California community as a leader in newscasting. Both of you are really icons in the news business. My family and I will miss your dry humor and Lois’ quick, furtive looks to keep Dave in check.

We’ll miss seeing you each night. Best wishes in your retirement.

PS – my friend, Ron W., said you were really a good ball player down in Arizona.

    Your friend,

    Charlie

  289. Babe Albright Says:

I just want to be one of many to tell you how much you will be missed. Not just for your professional manor in reporting the news, but your light interaction with each other.

Thanks for sharing the dinner hour with me and my wife. I have seen other husband and wife teams but they never came close. Saying that we will miss you are not strong enough. Hopefully your retirement will be all that you expect.

  292. Kathy McDonald Says:

Best wishes to you during the next phase of your lives together. Sacramentans tune in each evening to Channel 3 to hear “Dave and Lois” deliver the news. We came to Sacramento in 1978 on my last military duty assignment at Mather AFB prior to my retirement after 20-yrs of service in the Air Force. We’ve been deligently watching your 6:00PM news upon your returned to KCRA in 1990.
Also followed your noon coverage at the Arden Fair Mall.
Both my wife & I really enjoyed watching your coverage of current events & we’ll surely missed you. As a retiree ourselves, it is something that I highly recommend to everyone. All the best & God Bless!

  297. Devin Holmes Says:

Thank you for being there everyday at 5 pm for our family. We have watched you for so many years. You have always been there and cared about us. We knew that because of the way you report each and every story. We will miss seeing you every day and being a part of our life. May you find bigger and better things to come as you continue to work side by side. Good luck!

  298. Congratulations. While we no longer live in Sonora and haven’t been able to watch Channel 3 for a year now, you are definitely part of our 25 years there and we wish you much happiness in your retirement. We always looked forward to your newscasts ……………..congrats

Noooo. Say it isn’t true. I have enjoyed watching you from the moment you arrived back in Sacramento. Your professionalism is rare in this age of shock journalism. But more than that, I have enjoyed watching the two of you interact. I guess all good things have to come to an end. It just won’t be the same. Have a wonderful retirement.

  303. Patrick Cinotti Says:

    To Dave and Lois,
I always watch you guys Monday thru Friday at 5:pm and at 6:30 pm. You guys are great and you make me laugh a lot. It’s very sad that you guys are retiring because i will miss watching you to on the news because Channel 3 is #1 and I always watch channel 3. Good luck on your retirement and God Bless both of you. Your number 1 fan will miss you a lot.

  304. Lynne Says:

    Hay:)

I was ‘gobsmacked’ to see the lovely announcement today on Channel 3 …. and then I got a lump in my throat when I realized you won’t be in my living room each evening anymore!

So many stories you’ve covered! I think the one which still brings me such a smile, is when Captain Michael Kidd and his photographer, Ron Middlekoff (hope I spelled his name correctly) rescued *RODEO* from atop that roof in 1997 up near Marysville, was it? When the reunion of that beautiful dog and his ‘parents’ took place later that night…that one came to mind right away!

And Dave, the way you used to give Mark a ‘run for his money’ when he’d bring Jimmy to work…calling his name and then saying ‘cookie?’!! Trying to coax him from his daddy’s desk in the weather department! LOL!

I’m glad for the two of you! Sad as can be for me and the rest of your loyal viewers. I imagine your own doggys will be ever happy to have you home more, though!

What on EARTH will Mark do without you both?!

Enjoy this newest chapter in your lives, you two! You DO deserve this:)
    Lynne-Sonora, CA

  307. Opal & Mac Miller Says:

    Dave & Lois,
We’ll miss you sooo much. What we enjoyed about you two,
were the laughs you gave us in the evening. Dave always had
a funny remark to say about a giving story. Lois would give the weather man a real test on his weather reporting. You were just down the earth news reporters. Have a healthy and
fun fill time on your Retirement.

  308. Ryan Renee Holoubek Says:

Dave and Lois I will miss you!!! Channel 3 is my FIRST CHOICE to watch the news and it’s all because of you two. Will you be on the New Year’s Eve Show??? Have a nice and relaxing retirement – you surely deserve it!!

  309. Dee Dee Morong Says:

Dave & Lois, when I moved here 7 years ago from the Bay Area I missed my newscasters so much, so flipped between all the local channels until I came upon you two. I feel like you have always been “my newspeople.” I can’t stop crying because I selfishly will miss you both…it’s like you are here with me and my dog Beau, every evening. That being said, I love your interaction, your obvious connection and I am wishing you an enjoyable, wonderful fun filled retirement. You have set such an example and deserve the best. I will miss you, …big hugs.

    Dear Dave and Lois,

Please think on retiring very carefully. I retired last year and have missed my job ever since (even though I am past 70, I feel that I could easily have worked another 10!) Of course if you play golf it’s a totally different story!

Good luck anyway and thank you for the comfort you’ve been over the years for just being there…

  312. Nancy & Ed Howard Says:

Dave & Lois, KCRA has been our channel for news since moving to Modesto in 1968. God bless you with good health, continued happiness and many good times in retirement.
    Oscar & Frances Chroust

    Dave -
I was born and raised in Sacramento. Didn’t you work at Channel 13 before Channel 3 ?

  321. Mike & Denise Curran Says:

Dave & Lois: Northern California has been privileged to have the two of you anchoring the nightly news casts for Channel 3. The younger reporters are going to miss the benefit of your experience. I hope you consider teaching part-time so that others can learn the world of journalism from two of the finest!! My wife and I will continue to watch Channel 3……but it won’t be the same.

  322. Scott Watson Says:

All I can say is my wife and myself will miss good friends we were never able to meet. Perhaps one day our paths will cross.
I can never recall in all the years we have watched KCRA that we ever encountered a “negative moment” while you two were on the air….We wish you well on your retirement…Have fun..

  323. Jim Burson Says:

Being a news junkie, I was in a state of ecstacy when I discovered the two of you and Channel Three when I retired to this area. Having been in the broadcast news business for four decades, I can honestly say I’ve never seen a better team in any market. The way you interact with each other is outstanding and I’ll miss that. Happy retirement.

  324. Susan Lubiens Says:

My wife and I wish you both the very best of luck and good health on your retirement,we’ll miss you very very much. You both are family to us.When ever we watch kcra we will always see DAVE & LOIS in our hearts. All of the reporters at kcra are great.I retired 2 times and maybe the 3rd will be the charm.I have had a great career and enjoyed all of them,30yrs as a federal employee and 22 yrs as a navy reservist(flying as a crew member)..Now I should kick back but I wont.We had hoped to meet you someday but we live 2 hrs north.Happy, healthy retirement forever.Thank you for all the years on enjoyment. You are great people.
    Paul & Anita Relei

  326. Katherine Cadman Says:

    Dear Dave & Lois,

What will we do? I tend to be a creature of habit. I don’t do well with change. Now I will have to go through three stages.
    1. Denial (Pretending that you will be back.)
    2. Anger (knowing that you won’t be back.)
    3. Grief (sorry to see you go).

You have been like family. We have been with you through the good and bad times. And like family, you have always been there for us. We have watched you with much admiration and respect.

Now it is time, as you run that relay called life, to pass the baton. Know that when you cross the finish line we will be there
    to cheer you on
    to wish you well
to congratulate you on your accomplishments
to tell you that we will miss you
and with gratitude and a fond farewell we say goodbye.
Enjoy some much deserved rest and a happy retirement.

    We love you,
    The Cadman Family

  327. Elaine Says:

I watched you on KOVR, CNN and now KCRA. We go way back and you will be missed. I just retired and I know from experience that you will love being retired. You will be missed, but you deserve some time to yourselves now. Enjoy every minute of your retirement.

  329. Christine Miller Says:

    Dear Lois and Dave,
It saddens me to think that we are losing both of you. KCRA will never be the same without you. You have been in our family room for about 16yrs.
Lois this one is for you! I really tip my hat to you. I don’t know to many women that can work beside their husband like you do. I think that is so wonderful!!!
    I KNOW I COULDN’T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I always enjoyed looking at all your different hair styles and Dave, you have some awesome ties.(you have great taste Lois)
Anyway you both have a wonderful retirement and have wonderful holidays and a most prosperous New Year!

  330. Doris Madigan Says:

Hi Dave & Lois: When I heard of your upcoming retirement – tears came to my eyes – have thought when are they going to retire? But, hearing it really was going to happen was sad – BUT, so happy for you that you are healthy and happily married and can start a new adventure together! Will miss you for sure though….

  331. Dorothy Donaldson Says:

I can’t imagine KCRA without Dave and Lois. Thank you for reporting the news in an honest and respectful manner without sensationalizing it or diminishing it’s importance.

It hs been fun watching a husband and wife team working together so professionally with such ease and grace.
I have enjoyed your often witty repartee!

Now go and have a happy retirement. You have earned it!

  332. Pete and Barbara Saco Says:

Our evenings will not be the same without you dining at our kitchen table with us. We have enjoyed the both of you for many years. In fact, we were married in 1979 as well. Pete appreciates your support of high school sports and the outstanding coverage that KCRA provides. We have enjoyed some of your comments and Dave’s cynical comments are quite humorous at time. Stop and smell the roses and may the both of you have a long, healthy and happy retirement.

  333. Randy and Mary Mcmillen Says:

We have watched you most every evening during the past years and loved watching the news. We love the cutest “eye catching” expressions between the two of you. We will miss you so much and wish you much happiness as you retire.

  334. Dave M Says:

Good Luck to the both of you! Dave, the first time I was on t.v you interviewed me about the toad tunnel in Davis. You were a ledgend at the time, but I found you to be just a salt of the Earth person. Have been a fan ever since and quite frankly have had a crush on Lois since I was a teen…sorry!

Will miss the both of you!

  335. My husband, Dale, my entire family, and I will miss your evening news and the professional way it was delivered, Dave and Lois. We have been watching you for 18 years and planned to continue to do so. We could not believe you were retiring, but we do wish you many happy times in the years ahead. You will be missed by many!

  336. Dave and Lois,
I would like to take the time to personally wish the happiest retirement to the both of you. You certainly will be missed by the communtiy and all the lives that you have touched each and every day. The work you both have done in the past for broadcast televsion is inspiring. I will miss having the both of you on my daily news. To a happy joyfull retirement to the both of you. P.S. I didn’t know that the both of you were hooked up until last night. You both make a fabulous team on and off air. Bless you both.

  337. Kimberly Paul Says:

From the age when news started meaning something to me the two of you have been there. Your cheerful and loving banter helped me connect with what you were reporting as if we were at family dinner. You will be truly missed but as you can see through the numerous comments, everyone is so happy for you and wishes you the best in retirement!

Thank you for all you have done for Sacramento!

  338. George (Fair Oaks) Says:

I have enjoyed every minute watching the two of you from when you first came to Sacramento, while you were on CNN and since you came back and worked at KCRA. I am often so jealous that each of you has such a great job, and each other.

I actually got to work with Dave one night back in 1976. I was a volunteer TD at the annual KVIE auction. In 1976 it was held down on 19th street next to the rail road tracks. As luck would have it, our major food donor that night was Der Weinerschneitzel and one guest host was Dave Walker. I still laugh at the comments he made that the DW mascot was walking around with Dave’s initials on him.

You will be missed; but there are other professionals stepping into the spotlight. Please enjoy your retirement to its fullest.

  339. susan Says:

Dear Dave and Lois, I’m not sure I even want to watch the news anymore if the two of you are leaving. I get a real kick out of the way you anchor. Your humor Dave and the looks you give him Lois! You crack me up! But, you are still very professional and sincere. I like everyone else on the team too, but it won’t be the same without your faces. I do wish you both the best life has to offer. It is going to take half your new found retirement just to read all these well meaning messages!

  340. Dave and Lois

  346. Ron Middlekauff Says:

    Dave & Lois,

Goodness! We have shared soooo many adventures in —OUR— last 30 years together… but 2 fun ones some to mind. Dave, I was your photographer as we chased and rounded up Jackrabbits —by hand— with help from California Dept. of Park and Recreation workers… from a tiny speck of land in the middle of Folsom Lake. These rabbits were trapped by low water on a very, very tiny piece of real estate and Dave and the park workers caught something like 30 Jackrabbits, all by hand, to later release in a safer environment. Bet you never knew Jackrabbits make such a loud noise huh? We won an award for that story too!

Lois, I remember you getting pelted by flying beer bottles in a Sacramento neighborhood that did not want the media attention! Who could EVER refuse a visit from Lois? But the glass was flyin’ and Lois was ducking and running for cover as the camera kept rolling! Remember, the camera never blinks!

You both are such an asset to the community KCRA serves. Many viewers will never know the level of community service you both do to help make peoples lives better. I’ve seen the dedication first hand and you should be commended for it.

My sincerest best wishes for the days, months and years ahead. You have my utmost respect.

    Ron Middlekauff
    KCRA Photojournalist

We both watched your excellent personalized news coverage every day. You two are like having family members in the living room.

I recall one year when Lois was being snippy with Dave. He just laughed. Then Lois was gone for a while and returned looking so refreshed as though she had had a face lift. Eversince then you seemed to have a renewed appreciation for each other.

Both of you are beautiful people. I’m sad to lose you. KCRA will never be the same. There should be more couples on the news to promote the vaule of family. I hope you will not be totally out of view of the public eye. Have a wonderful rest of your life.

I first watched both of you on CNN, and 5 years ago when we bought a home in Pollock Pines, and started watching KCRA, I told my husband that I thought you had worked for a bay area news station and that you both were married. My husband told me “No, they aren’t married, their names aren’t the same” Silly guy. I proved it to him by going to KCRA.com and showed him both of your histories. Married with Lois keeping her own identity! And I did find out that I did see Lois when she in San Jose.

Lois I remember you came to look at our condo when you were looking for a place to live inSacramento. There you were sitting on our sofa. It had been our first “Home” we bought, but I was in awe even tho you did not buy our condo it was a wonderful story to tell all are friends (our college friends) when you made it big, you were paired with Dave and you married, you left to go to SF (our home area itself which we moved back to and then we too returned back to the valley as it had become home) and then you returned HOME. We sold our condo to someone else shortly after that visit but still all in all we wish you the best in your retirement. You have worked hard and have earned the time to do what you want, when you want, not when the news and breaking stories allow. Much luck and happiness in this next phase of your life.

  399. Brenda Roberts Says:

    Hey Dave & Lois,

Just wanted to say “thank you” for bringing me the news all these years!! I will miss your faces as the two of you have been my favorites for many years.

Have a great life and enjoy your retirement. I will miss ya’ll.

  400. Marysue Bacon Says:

    Hi Dave,
We met in Sacto about 30 years ago at a bar during your break between shows. I later moved to the Virgin Islands when you both were on CNN and I called you from there. Do you remember? I suspected you and Lois were an item and my suspicions were true. Hooray for both of you. I then moved to Italy for several years and I have just returned to the Sacto area (Grass Valley) and turned on my tv and there you both were. It truly was like “coming home”. I am so happy for both of you and your much deserved retirement. You will both be missed very much, every evening, in my home.

  401. Jane Says:

    To Dave and Lois.

I started watching KCRA since 1991-1992 from Brentwood on cable since moving from San Jose and I really enjoyed your professionalism and straightfoward news whether from triumph or tragedy, from good times to bad times, you were there to cover all throughout these past 18 years, and I hope you have a wonderful and great retirement from the TV business, I had all choices when it comes to news, but I made Channel 3 my choice and I’m happy that I did. Good luck to you and may your successors have the great faith and dignity as you did.

    Jane

  408. Linda H. Says:

I’m so happy for the two of you, but feel a sense of loss for Sacramento. You were KCRA news! I loved the way you could finish each others sentences so seamlessly and if one fumbled the other picked up the script with barly a missed beat. You are true professionals and you always allowed humor to be a part of your delivery when it was appropriate. I wish you a happy retirement and a long happy journey as you begin the next phase of your life. Thanks for the memories…you will be sorely missed!!

  409. Christy Toro Says:

    Dave and Lois,

I’ve been watching you for years…Come 5 o’clock the news is on and there you both are. You are a part of our lives and one of the things I loved most was seeing how down to earth you both were, and the way you presented the news was wonderful.
Congratulations and wishing you happiness and the best of everything in your retirement years.

You are going to truly be missed!

    God Bless,

  410. Joyce Johnson Says:

    Dave and Lois,

Congratulations on your retirement. I hope you will find many wonderful activities to occupy your time.

I moved from the Bay Area only to find I had to select an alternate station that would provide me with up-to-date news coverage; that was 15 years ago. You have been in my home for the past 15 years, keeping me informed.

Thank you for objectively and professionally providing me with reliable and accurate news coverage. I know I can trust the information I hear from your broadcast.

You will be sorely missed, not only by your viewers but also by the KCRA family.

    Best Regards,

  418. David Weldy Says:

Not only am I envious of your long standing marriage to each other, but your ability to also work together speaks volumes.
There are many television news shows available, but for many many years I have chosen Channel 3, primarily because of the two of you.
Your humanity, interaction, and humor have always warmed my heart and sensibilities.
I wish you only the best, in your retirement and beyond.

  419. Nancy & Jim Says:

    Hi Lois & Dave,
Like so many others…..you do not know us; but you have been welcome guests in our home night after night, week after week, year after year.

We feel like we know you, and feel we could just sit down
over a cup of coffee and chat like ole’ friends ( I never use the word old anymore!! ).

We feel like we have been through the changes in life together. We have been a distant part of all the Sacramento Valley events you have hosted, toasted, & roasted.

You are the best of Sacramento. You will be sorely missed, but leave the JOB in capable hands.

The Best is wished for you as you enter the next chapter in your lives. Enjoy retirement, and if you give it your all like you have reporting the news, it will be laughter filled, and bring joy to yourselves and many others.

The one thing we can count on in life is “change”, and now is the time for your next adventure.

Wishing you both all the Best,
    Nancy & Jim

  425. Sharon Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois,
It seems like I have known you for years, although we have never met. Your reporting of the news was through and concise. I have traveled throughout the United States, and no other station has the quality of reporting that you two do.
I will surely miss you both.
Enjoy your retirement years, I have been retired 6 years from AT&T and wonder how I ever had time to work. Stay busy, but enjoy one another and your time together.

Fond memories of them we’ll save.

  427. Patti Gomez Says:

    Dave and Lois,

My whole family sit and love to watch both of you. At times we can pick up certain vibes between both of you; wondering if it has been a tough day? Most the times, we could see that sparkle in your eyes that we love to see. You two have really shown that a couple can work close together and not divorce. That’s amazing, really, you’ve been strong.

Congratulations and enjoy retirement. You’ll be missed.

I met Dave in 1994 in Crosswoods in Citrus Heights. You were doing a piece on Saints and asked if I would participate in a St. Joseph’s ritual to help sell a house. The house sold within a month and you came back with the crew to interview the Seller and myself again (you called me the “Underground Agent”). It was great fun and you were my favorite Newsman after that. I always appreciated the way you looked at Lois with such admiration. All the best to both of you, hope to see you around town.

  440. Oh, you will be missed so much. Whenever it is time for the news, my husband or I will say “put it on 3 for Dave and Lois”. KCRA will have to look long and hard to replace the two of you. Enjoy your retirement!

  448. Dan & Vicki Findley Says:

    Dave & Lois….
We moved to Perth Australia in 1999 & realized how lucky we were to have such a wonderful news team here in Sac. The news there was very dry & monotone. Never a smile or joke. It’s not easy to hear that you’re retiring. Channel 3 has been the channel I’ve turned to for news as long as I’ve lived in California. My Dad would come home from work, sit down and turn on channel 3 news. When I married, we’d watch channel 3 news. My kids cut their teeth watching Dave and Lois on channel 3 news. I’m not sure what my future grandchildren will do not getting to know Dave and Lois. God bless you and enjoy every minute of your retirement!

    Jim and Rosemary

  458. Andy and Linda Anderson Says:

Here’s to you Dave and Lois!!
We have enjoyed watching the two of you on KCRA for years. I always wondered how two married people got along so well and for so long while working so close together on a newscast. There have been many, many times you have both made us laugh with the humor between the two of you. I loved all the funny comments that you both made when the other made what you thought was a silly or strange comment. It has been a blast, and we will miss you both terribly! It is amazing how attached we have all become to you both. Have many happy and relaxing years to come with your new retirement. Cheers!

Dave and Lois…what a team! All I am able to say is: what will I do without you two after all these years of watching and listening? One thing I do have is an autographed picture of both of you together. A few years ago a friend of mine saw you in your ‘favorite place’ here in Nevada City/Grass Valley area. He told you that I was an avid fan of you two and you gave him a picture signed by you both. So, at least I have that, and I thank you. Thank you also for your professionalism and warm wit…you’re great! Have a wonderful retirement.

The two of you work so well together and seem to truly respect and adore each other. I love it. By the way, I’m still in my 40’s and got married only 3 years after you did. I have 2 grandchildren and 1 more coming in December. I hope you have a wonderful retirement and that we’ll still see you around every now and then.

  479. Sally Jorgensen Says:

Good Luck and Best Wishes to you both!
I’ve been a faithful KCRA fan and viewer since 1964…back in the day and they say now! It’s been wonderful to tune in each day and see the same friendly faces – like an extended family – helping to catch me up on the news of the day. You represent the best in news and have always remained so professional and personable. 20+ years at the same top rated station in the news industry is quite an accomplishment! Sacramento is very lucky you decided to finally settle in here and stay on air for so long! Bless you both in this new phase of your lives.

  480. Christina Says:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I have enjoyed both of you! Especially your sense of humor and side comments. You both will be missed! Enjoy your retirement!!

  481. Steve & Judi Says:

Our first reaction when we heard was of selfish sadness. Then we realized what a wonderful opportunity for the two of you! We’re just wondering how Mark will ever get through the weather without you! Seriously, we’re one of those families who swear the kids first words were, “Where the news comes first”. You’ve been a part of our family for many years. Enjoy your retirement……….you’re going to love it!
    God bless you both.

  482. Maria Brady Says:

I moved to Modesto in 98 and since then I have watching KCRA Channel 3 and have enjoed watching 6:30 news, when Dave & Lois come on. I trully enjoyed watching them and I’m going to miss them. Channel 3 will not be the same on November 27th. God bless you and take care Maria

  483. Jeff Davis Says:

    Dave & Lois,

You two have earned your retirement, so make the most of this next, fun phase of your lives – but never forget – you will be sorely missed.
    CONGRATULATIONS

  496. Jim Monteton Says:

Is it true that Dave & Lois said that as soon as they retire analog TV they would leave too? You guys are too cool to retire. But if you must – then have the very best of life.

  503. Terry & Kathy Says:

    Dave & Lois,

We welcomed you both into our family room every evening for the latest news, your wit and humor, and the warm feelings you had for each other that seemed to just transfer right into our own hearts.
As so many others have said before us, we will miss you, however, we wish you much happiness in your retirement, and thank you for the many years you gave to us.
    Take care.

  504. Kathy De Pontee Says:

Gosh, Dave and Lois, how time flies! I wish both of you the best of luck in retirement, but I know I will suffer withdrawals the first time I watch the news without you. I have watched both of you reporting the news in Sacramento since the late ‘70’s…missed you when you were gone and was ecstatic when you came back! You’re the reason KCRA became my favorite news station.

Have fun on the slopes and with your golf game. You will enjoy your time off, but always remember ‘your public’ will welcome you back with open arms (and hugs), should you decide retirement just isn’t for you (fat chance, huh?).

The news just won’t be the same without you. KCRA has some very big shoes to fill when you leave!

God bless you both in retirement, and in whatever the future holds for you.

    Miss you already,
    Kathy De Pontee
    Sacramento, CA

  505. Louise Fulton Says:

The two of you are going to be missed by so many! I know that you are always my choice for the news. You seem to really enjoy each other’s company and really make the News as lighthearted as it should be, yet able to shift to the seriousness when necessary. I have a plaque that is at my house, it reminds me of the two of you who have come into our homes night after night “some people come into our lives and quickly go, others leave but leave footprints on our hearts”, you have left footprints on many hearts. Best wishes for a wonderful new life!

  506. S. Beck Says:

Well Dave, I don’t know about Lois but hopefully you’ll be back out there playing baseball again. I played against you a few years back and you guarded that plate pretty well. The best to you and Lois.

  507. DEAR DAVE & LOIS, YOU HAVE BEEN A PART OF MY FAMILY FOR YEARS. WHENEVER I HAVE TRAVELED OUT OF THE AREA I ACTUALLY HAVE FELT AN EMPTINESS ( I KNOW I AM EMOTIONAL) WHEN I WATCHED THE LOCAL NEWS IN THESE OTHER PLACES. I MISSED YOU ALOT. 510. Shirley Hardaway Says:

    Hi Dave and Lois

I must tell you that when I hear you are going to retire, It causes me to become sad for a moment, yet happy at the same time. It is nice that you have reached the time in your life to retire and enjoy the other things in life that you cannot do when being so dedicated to your work as the two of you have been. “Congratulation” to you both, you will certainly be missed. It has been nice in this day and age to have a happily married couple do things together and work as closely together and still be together as you two are. It has been a real pleasure to watch how professional you both are also. I have admired you both, since you began with KCRA 3, way back when. I wish you the very best of retirement, enjoy!!!

    Sincerely, Shirley

P.S. By the way Lois, I really like your short hair-do, looks very nice. Dave as for you I love your sense of humor. You are both looking great, so keep doing whatever it is you are doing.

  511. LINDA SANA Says:

    Dave and Lois,

  512. Joe Faso Says:

    Dave & Lois
Thanks for all the years that you have come into our living room and have given us the latest news and stories. You have always done so with honesty and proffessionalism. You have always been like a member of our family. I can’t believe that you won’t be doing it any longer, but I understand. I retired a couple of months ago, so I can appreciate your choice to do so also. I just want you to know that you will be missed greatly, but at the same time we wish you the best and continued happiness in this new chapter of your life.

    Gail and Joe

    Dear Dave and Lois
Hope the ski slopes are full of snow and the golf courses always green.
Enjoyed you too for many years. Happy Retirement.
    The best always,
    Sue

  518. Curt and Sandy Holt Says:

OH MY WORD! WHY are you retiring? What will you do now? And even more to the point, how will the rest of us viewers survive without seeing your faces on TV? Who will deliver the news to us better than you two? And most importantly, we have loved the idea of having a married couple on TV who have managed to work so well together for all of these years. COME ON … give it a second thought. DON’T GO! DON’T LEAVE US!!! All kidding aside, we do wish you all the best. Enjoy this new phase in your lives. Thank you for your dedicated years of keeping your viewers informed!

  519. John and Cindy Crane Says:

    Congradulations Dave and Lois!
We have certainly enjoyed watching you two deliver the news these past years. Dave, your smile is contagious, and Lois your banter with Dave and Mark Finan would keep us laughing long after the news was reported! But our fondest memory was watching as our baby granddaughter’s world would stop when Dave and Lois came on. As soon as you two would appear on the screen she would crawl over to the TV to watch you. When a commercial came on, she would crawl away and then immediately come back when you appeared again. She is 7 now and not so captivated by the news, but she was certainly mezmorized by you two, as were all of us. Good luck and God’s speed on your new adventure. Retirement will be the best job you ever had!

  520. Carol & Don Says:

    To Dave and Lois,

We have loved watching you over the years. We appreciate your professional and serious reporting of the news, but we have also loved hearing your ‘married banter’ with each other over the years. It made us feel like your were an ‘old’ married couple, just like us. All the best to you in your retirement.

    Fondly,
    Don and Carol

  521. julie miller brughelli Says:

Dave and Lo, say it isn’t so. Please no go! I’ll miss you bro’s.
Truly you’re #1 on my news tube. I have admired the way you both deliver the news. Your delivery is comfortable and concise. You simply have the gift of grasping and holding one’s interest. I feel stupid saying “I feel as though I know you after all these years.” I’ve watched you from Modesto since the very beginning. Dave resembles my brother so much. I remember phoning my brother decades ago and saying “Bruce turn on the tube. Your twin is on.”
Visiting Old Town decades past I once saw Dave in a restaurant eating dinner. You actually looked out the window at me. I was excited as I was a fan even back then.
By the way, love the Lennon glasses in 1991!
Lois is one classy lady. You two are in for a fantastic retirement and I wish you good health and many years ahead.
I’ll survive. But I will surely miss my very favorites. God’s Blessings and my Good Wishes!

  522. Karen DeLisa Says:

Dave and Lois, We are avid watchers of KCRA news. Our grandson is 21 months old, and for the last year, he stops what he is doing and will listen to Dave talk. He will not move until Dave has finished his newscast. He will start playing or eating and again, when Dave begins to talk, he stops and listens. My or My what are we going to do now. He is with us 3 nights a week while Mom and Dad do their law enforcement jobs, so this will be quite a change not having you on board our babysitting nights. Dave and Lois stay healthly, active and enjoy your retirement-we will miss you.

  523. Shirley Hardaway Says:

Dave and Lois, you two have been a pleasure to watch over the last 20 years. Keep up those special looks at one another and, inside jokes. You both will be missed a bunch. I wish you two the best of retirement in the years ahead, now go out and enjoy doing the fun things you were not able to do while being so dedicated to your work as you both were. “Congratulation” on your retirement. Sincerely, Shirley

  524. Carolyn Messick Says:

What a tremendous feeling to be loved by so many strangers…you are simply an adorable couple, & I’ve enjoyed your personalities that tender the news. You have been a staple in my day i will sorely miss. God bless you both!

  526. Cathy Says:

Best Wishes to you both. Like so many others who have already written comments to you, I will also miss you. Your like all the good things that happen to people in a day (like a good cup of coffee, a smile, laughing, having a close friend and so many other things). Many Blessings
    Don & Rose

  528. Greg Milota Says:

Channel 3 seems to have had it’s share of news “icons” over the years. Tim, Mike, Tom, etc., but from a visual standpoint – I always saw you two at the helm of a ship of all-stars. I only had the pleasure for 12 years, but I think any newscast with you two during that time was the best in town. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge, experience, humor, and humility. As both a viewer and co-worker, thanks for being you.

  529. dave and lois I miss you already. I moved to oregon two months ago, and your not here, man its not the same without you. I will really miss you when you retire. hope you have good health and alots of fun. take care and god bless you both, I will miss you.

  530. Bob McGill Says:

Congratulations on your impending retirement. My wife and I retired in January and it has been a wonderful experience. I always loved your banter between each other during the news. It made your show much more realistic to me. Have a great retirement and we will miss you.

  531. Dave Tanner Says:

    Greetings from Modesto.

You two are the greatest. I never watched anyone else at 5:00 p.m. Will miss you a lot.

I wish you both the best.

    D Tanner
    Modesto, CA

  532. Steve R Says:

    Dave and Lois,

The two of you have always been a class act, it is always a pleasure to watch you both, I knew I was getting the straight story without all the sensationalism. Your professional candor in journalism will be sorely missed. I wish you all the best that life has to offer while you are enjoying retirement.

    Sincerely,
    Steve R

  533. John & Anne K. Says:

As recent retirees ourselves, my husband and I were not surprised to receive the news of your departure from KCRA. Still we had secretly (selfish on our part).. hoped to be seeing you on our nightly news for a few more years to come. We have watched you nearly every single evening for many years! I can still see my husband, coming in from his outdoor projects, hastily beckoning my attention, with the reminder.. “It’s time for Dave and Lois!!” With this I would grab two glasses of wine for us, and we would cuddle up on the sofa to watch the news. You were like two familiar close friends in our livingroom. We will miss you tremendously; we will miss your terrific sense of humor, your accurate, always fair and unbiased way of presenting the news. But we are very happy for you. life goes on and your are both on a new journey, another transition of life. We wish you the very BEST of years ahead; you deserve the best and we hope you will pat yourselves on the back…knowing you can feel proud of a job well done!Happy retirement and the best life has to offer you!
Oh yes and what a coincidence! On your last day on the job, Nov. 26th my husband and I will be toasting you one last time with our glass of wine, not only for your success but to our 31st anniversary which happens to be on that same day!

  534. Jae Dee Says:

Congratulations Dave and Lois and thank you for a job well done! It has been a pleasure to welcome you into my living room each evening for the news! Wishing you good health and happiness in your retirement!

  535. jackie Says:

My best wishes to you Lois & Dave. I like every one on this my favorite news station, but you two are my all time favorites. I always look forward to seeing you in the evenings & will really miss you. However I know you will enjoy your retirement & hope you will check in once in a while to let us know what you have been up to.
Take good care of each other.
    Love,
    Jackie

    Dave and Lois,

    Congratulations

  539. vi yates Says:

    Dave & Lois,

I was very surprised (shocked) to learn of your retiring at such early ages. The news will not be the same without you. It was fun watching you both interact (joyfully) with each other and also with Mark Finan. It has to be 16 years that I have been watching the news with the 2 of you. I do not do well with change. I feel like I am losing part of my family.

You both get along so well. You can tell that you have a wonderful marriage. Congratulations on that. It made your news cast so special. I never could watch any other news. It was always KCRA with Dave & Lois.

I will sincerely miss you. Have a wonderful life & happy retirement.

  540. Dear Dave and Lois,
Oh my! My husband Ron and I moved here to (Sutter Creek) up country really, from Orange County five years ago. I couldn’t believe how hard it was to adapt to a NEW news station. Our LA stations (our fav. being ABC’s Eyewitness News) was like family. You don’t realize that until you move away. But it didn’t take long to adopt you both as our new favorites. It took a little bit to figure out that you both were married, but when we did, all the more we loved you. Not sure what we will do now. Feels like we are moving all over again. We wish you the best and thank you for being a part of our lives for a bit of time. Wish we knew you longer.
    Blessings,
    JoAnnA Pierotti and Ron too!

  541. Bill and Betty Says:

Please come back for some retirement updates and some “good news specials”.
Just like the other people, we want to put your portrait, on our wall, as our new adopted family.
The very best of “good luck” and the very best of “good wishes” for both of you.
    Bill and Betty

So now have lots of fun diving and traveling and being away from the deadlines of TV broadcasting. We wish you all the best -

  546. Deborah Says:

    Dave & Lois,
I just had to write in and let you both know how much I will miss you. I was born, raised and still reside in South Lake Tahoe. We have the option of watching KCRA or the numerous news channels the come out of Nevada and as far back as I can remember I have only watched KCRA. The two of you are the best team. As for Dave, I must say there have been a couple times where I have been eating dinner and watching the news and some of the things that come out of your mouth are so unexpected I have had to spit out my food so that I didn’t choke. I remember one year it was around the holidays and you were closing the news cast with a story on mall santas and your comentary on it was hysterical and classic! Love to you both and enjoy your retirement! -Deborah

  547. Bev Says:

    Dear Dave and Lois,
We just want to say that we have enjoyed your broadcasts so much for the most professional news reporting for these many years. We depend upon your newscasts for great stories, humor and you just have been a great part of our lives.

    Great skiing!

    Enjoy,

    Randy

  549. Carl & Kathleen Nichols Says:

Dave & Lois: you both have been a BIG part of our news and family for so long. We can’t imagine what KCRA news will be like without you both.
You are one of the reasons, when we had a satellite installed, we also kept basic cable. We would not be without KCRA and Dave & Lois.
We are retired and it was really, really difficult at first. We bought a motorhome and are traveling with our two dogs. Carl does not miss work but I still do a little.
Thank you and we will miss you both!! Happy Retirement.

  550. Tom Says:

Ok Now you have done it, we have been having dinner almost every week night for years. And i know you have sufferred through my burnt fried potatoes and meatloaf, weird vegie combinations and my decaf coffee. But all in all every thing usually truned out ok. I guess i’ll just have to train the next team ???? to be polite and smile as i have my dinner every night. I wish you all the best, you have served us for many years and your day has come to sit back and relax and just see how well you have trained the rest of the crew to take over. “smile” Happy retirement Dave and Lois. Just enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

  553. Rose & Sam Williams Says:

    Dear Dave & Lois,

Time flies. It seems like you just came back to Sacramento and here it is time for retirement. Last night at our family dinner I asked my folks, what will we do without Dave & Lois? The well-wishes online from your colleagues show how valued and loved you are in the workplace. Those feelings carry out to the community and those of us who bring you into our living rooms every night.

I especially will miss Dave’s mischievous smile and Lois’ witty repartee with Mark Finan. In addition to reporting the news, you made us smile. Someone said that friends are just strangers you haven’t met … So if we ever cross paths, you might see strangers, but we will see friends. Thank you for your years of service to the community. We wish you health, happiness and laughter in the years ahead.

  554. Carole Kellogg Says:

I’ve long enjoyed your broadcasts over the years. You can tell how long you’ve been on the air by the changing hair styles (Lois) and eye glasses (Dave)! :)

Best wishes on your success and Happy Retirement!

    Carole Kellogg

  555. Ada Washington Says:

Have a very happy retirement.

    Kathy

  557. Conrad Hunziker Says:

Dave and Lois, you have together made KCRA News the best and most watched newscast in Sacramento, not only because of your professionalism and reporting style, but because of your interaction with each other AND the reporting staff on set. You always add a great deal of wit and humor, delivering the news to the public in a way they can understand and appreciate. News is serious business and has to be many times, but not always… and you two know just when to add a touch of humor and when it is inappropriate. I wish you the best in your retirement… you deserve it!

  558. Gayle Says:

Dave and Lois, I want to congratulate you on a terriffic career and marriage – you will be missed greatly – you both have such a unique way of making me smile when I’m in a bad mood – your shoes will be hard to fill – but you both deserve to now live your life to the fullest – Lois I loved all your new hairstyles also. Dave & Lois, over the years we’ve watched you off and on as we moved from place to place. Enjoy the retirement you so richly deserve and be happy always. Thank you and God bless you both.

  566. Susan W. Says:

    Dave & Lois,
Not only have I enjoyed your on-air personalities, but I want to thank you so much for all you have given to the non-profit community. Regardless of what event or organization I was working with, you always responded personally and positively to my requests for a donation of your time. I found that especially remarkable, considering your stature in the community and on television. Thank you for all of your years of service both on and off-air!

  567. Judy Says:

    Dave and Lois,

Your number one gift is your example of a happy and peaceful marriage. (Thank you so much for that!)

    Enjoy your retirement, best wishes,

    Dear Dave and Lois.
Bad news always comes with a lot of sting along with it. But with the both of you bringing our news stories to the viewers for so many years, you lessoned the pain with your compassion sincerity and soothing style. Your delivery of the evening news has been a fine example of how to bring the stories to us. No ratings contests or puppets that speak when the string is pulled, just news delivered by great neighbors. Best of successes in your future endeavors. enjoy.

  576. Carole Says:

    Dave & Lois,
You two are a great couple and present the news with such class and professionalism. No matter what the news was, you always made it better somehow with Dave’s wit and Lois’s look of “very funny Dave”. I will miss that. I wish both of you a long deserved happy retirement. Have fun!

Your professionalism and dedication to your work has made Northern California a better place to work and live in my opinion. The two of you will surely be missed by a lot ot people. However, all good thing must eventually come to and end. I hope you both enjoy your retirement. Good luck and best wishes.

  582. Antelope Residents Says:

It’s been such a joy watching you both on KCRA 3. We’ve been up here in the Sacramento area now for 8 years and have always been a loyal watcher of KCRA 3. And I believe it’s because of Dave and Lois and the rest of the news cast. You are professional but also knows how to show a fun side as well. Thank you for being you.

  583. Lisa Vogel Says:

I had a gran mal seizure 12/24/2000 and another 12/25/2000, then spent 9 days in the hosp for many tests before being released to a home I did not remember. It has been a long recovery. My loyal husband has been with me when I didn’t even know his name. Through all of this, there were two familiar faces that I could remember though not remembering their names; they were: DAVE AND LOIS. I can no longer work and admire DAVE and LOIS for their many years of dedicated work together, because that is how my husband and I met; through work. I love how they interact together, how they finish each other’s sentences, how they have that connection that true love shines through. Happy Retirement.

  584. Grant and Andy Deighton Says:

We have welcomed you into our home every day like ole friends, and have enjoyed your work. The many times you would shake your head at Dave and his sense of humor is classic – my husband does the same with me. Dave, don’t ever lose that sense of humor. Our best wishes to you as you enter a wonderful time in your life – Lois, Dave will be around ALL the time! Enjoy, life is to short – your friends….

  585. Angela Gonzalez Says:

    Dave and Lois,
You will truly be missed…..the news just wont be the same without the two of you! I always looked forward to seeing you on New Year’s Eve and thought it was the cutest thing when you would share a ‘kiss’!!
Congratulations and enjoy your well deserved retirement.

  586. Hap & Bettye Woods Says:

Congratulations! We came to Sacramento in 1964. We worked and lived there for 43 yrs. Channel 3 was always there for us. When you two gave the news, you could take it to the bank. Regardless of your affilations – Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal you gave the news with no bias. Very perfessional!! Thank You. In 2006 we retired and moved back to TN, where we are orginally from. Even after 2 yrs., we still miss you. Where ever you go, what ever you do, we wish you blessings.

  587. ric prop Says:

Congratulations for surviving these turbulent times,…. yet still looking so young and vibrant!

Moreover, sustaining all these years as a working couple is something more to celebrate, to well beyond your “retirement!”

  588. CARLA JONES Says:

My evenings just won’t be the same when you leave…I’ve been watching your newscasts since you first came to KCRA. You’ll be sorely missed, but I wish you nothing but Happy, Healthy Days for your retirement years.
I’ll keep watching the 5 o’clock news on Ch. 3, but it just won’t be the same!

  591. Sharon Ford Says:

I am a fourth-generation Sacramentan who has been a Channel 3 News watcher since it’s inception. I was really a devoted Stan Atkinson fan and thought I would be following him to Channel 13. However, you two captivated me from the git-go and I will sorely miss you each evening. I hope this season will have beautiful snow so you can finally get many, many days on the slopes.
All good wishes for your retirement.
    Sharon Ford

  592. Terri Says:

Dave & Lois what a wonderful feeling you must have to retire together knowing how many lives you have touched through your work. Your fun, professional approach to delivering the news is a gift that we appreciated.

    Enjoy!

    A sad viewer

  595. Lynn Jewell Says:

I grew up watching Huntley and Brinkley over dinner as a little girl. As an adult I watch KCRA 3 for the excellence of its local anchors, newsteam and weather forecasters. Dave and Lois are such an important part of the team – their professionalism and obvious enjoyment in working together make the news easier to watch. Enjoy your retirement and know that you will be missed by your loyal viewers in Vacaville.

  596. Louis/Dottie Robustelli Says:

Dave/Lois: Thanks for all you have done to make Northern California a better place. I strongly suspect that your immediate future will be more of a “retread” than a “retire” experience-given your community-service inclination. God Bless and Keep You Both. Louis/Dottie Robustelli

  597. Josh Bernstein Says:

It is an honor to say I had the opportunity to work alongside two of the finest anchors in the business. Dave and Lois, Sacramento will not be the same without you. I wish you all the best! Josh

  599. RJ Says:

I can not believe you guys are leaving. For a long time I thought you guys owned KCRA. Since you guys were the longest one there. Being 23 years old, I remember you guys when my dad was watching the evening news. Then I found you guys were married, which was even cooler. Well you guys take care. I wish you guys the best of luck and wonderful new expierence.
Your Sacramento Viewer Watching KCRA where the news will come first.

  600. Christina Overmiller Says:

It has probably all been said… but not by me! ;)

May your adventures in life be filled with the fruitation of your hopes and dreams; and may you continue to plant seeds of inspiration along the paths you travel.

From four (4) generations of viewers…Thanks!

  601. Dean Says:

As much as you deserve a fabulous sendoff, the Channel 3 news will NEVER be the same without you two. You both will be remembered for the charm and with you brought to all of us daily.

Best wishes to the both of you and enjoy your retirement.

Good luck in the future with whatever you do.

  602. Ed and Darcy Roberts Says:

We retired to Colorado Springs 18 months ago. Until we moved we watch Dave and Lois on KCRA on a daily basis. They were a great team, fun to watch and listen to and very informative. The KCRA area will miss them and they will be difficult to replace.

Have as fulfilling a retirement as we have had.

  603. Roger Says:

Dave and Lois – You will be missed. Joining the ranks of the retirement like so many longtime Sacramento on-air personalities. Don’t be complete strangers. We still sometimes hear from retirees like Commander Bill Eveland from KFBK.

Enjoy your travels – especially the Amtrak travel. You will really enjoy the Panama Canal and the train trip.

    Good luck to you both.

  604. Donna Says:

I moved to Sacramento in 1990. I was so excited to find you and “real news”. I’m sure all of Sacramento will miss you both. Have a wonderful retirement. I’ll look for you on the slopes!

  607. Jim & Vicki Miller Says:

Dave and Lois, we’ve looked forward to your nightly news broadcasts and will miss you. Best wishes in your retirement, you two have worked hard, now it’s time to enjoy each other.

  608. Cindy Tough Says:

I always thought you guys were so good at doing the news. I really enjoyed Dave’s humor. One time you did a story on Martha Stewart and her new “AQpprentice” like show. And Dave goes, ” What is she going to tell them? That they are canned?”That was a riot. Canned. Get it? Canned. That isn’t all but I had to get that in there. I think you guys ought to do a humorous news show. It could be on you tube. Good luck and happiness. Cindy

  609. Lisa Lewis Says:

You two are truly an inspiration. I went to Cordova High School from 1977-1980, and always went home for lunch so I could watch Lois anchor the noon news. She was a true groundbreaker, and quite an inspiration for a teenage girl. My husband and I moved to So Cal in 1992 but still visited several times per year, and always looked to the Walkers for our news. We moved back to Nor Cal 5 years ago, and now watch Channel 3 news every night. You will be missed!

  610. Dale and Joyce Says:

We’ll miss you guys. You’ve been in our living room nearly every evening since you came back to KCRA. Everything that’s gone on in the world for the last thirty odd years. Thank you, both. I’m REALLY gona miss Daves corny jokes…….;)

  611. Bill Emond Says:

I remember a college professor tell me that I should apply for a new kind of job in Atlanta, GA. I was studying to be a technical director. His suggestion was to apply for a position at a new kind of network one that was on cable. My response was “that will never work”. I watched the premiere of CNN with Dave and Lois. I have watched you through out the years and I wish you well on your retirement. I ended up in the retail field and enjoyed ever since, but I always wondered should I have joined CNN. Best Wishes on your retirement

    Bill Emond

Dave, I hear you are a golfer, I am a Marshal at Empire Ranch Golf Course, I’d be honored to host you anytime!

All the best to you both.

  614. TIM IN MIDTOWN Says:

HEY : just want you to know that you will be missed.

    thx tim

  616. Martha Says:

My husband and I moved from Sacramento to Portland last year. We also lived in Austin, TX and San Jose for a while a few years back. So we’ve been exposed to several TV anchors over the years. No one compares to Dave & Lois. They’re the best! They bring a sense of humor and an appreciaton for the absurdity of some of the stories that they have to report. So refreshing!! Even though I can’t watch you guys up here in Portland, I’ll still feel the void you’ll leave when you’re off the air! Best of luck and God Bless you!!

  617. Lori Says:

Dave & Lois – It’s been a pleasure watching & listening to your news report over the years. I wish you all the best in your retirement, may you both have many years of making wonderful memories! Congratulations on being able to retire together…..cheers!

  618. Jenn Oates Says:

Well, now that you’re hanging up the lapel mics for good I guess you can finally open up that wedding chapel and put Dave’s “ordination” to good use!

Good luck in whatever you do, and a long, healthy life in which to do it.

  619. Tony and Pat Youga Says:

My family and I have only and always watched you both on KCRA for our news and it will not be the same without you guys, you will be truly missed by all who watched you two. Have a great retirement and enjoy every minute of it just remember that you are missed by your fans!

Thank you for your years of dedication : )

ps your replacements have HUGE shoes to fill!

  622. Kathy McClung Says:

My husband and I have been faithful KCRA TV news watchers “forever” – right up until the day we moved to Oregon. We love the professionalism you both brought with you to the news. We compare every channel we watch to you – and the others never meet your standards in our book! You made KCRA #! and you ALL became part of “our family”.

It has been such an eye-opener to watch all the KCRA “family’s” well-wishes on this website – to see their love for you both and to see that the staff still maintains a well-dressed professional appearance. It was also good for us to be able to “see” everyone again. We miss all of you so much since our move here to Oregon after our retirement four years ago. We even have KCRA as our home page so that we can check in with the best TV channel we’ve ever watched.

We did notice the absence of Tom Sullivan there in the mix. He has done well for himself and we are proud to say “we knew him when….”

Good luck to you both in your future endeavors.

    Best wishes from
    Milt and Kathy McClung
    Roseburg, Oregon
    (formerly of Gridley, Ca)

  623. Debbie Says:

I miss you already! Best wishes on your retirement and travel plans – way to go after a stellar career! You are Sacramento ICONS who will never be replaced on local TV. This is truly an end to an era and the rest of us will just have to muddle on!

  625. Leila Says:

    Lois and Dave -
It has been a joy wathcing you two for many years on Channel 3. I always look forward to seeing you both on the news. When I sometimes see only one of you I start thinking oh oh, one of them must be sick! Ahh to my relief, in a few days you returned! I remember the time when you, Lois, finally cut your long hair and Dave had to remark on the air how much he really like the change. Yes, there will be a big change shortly, I won’t be able to see you two on Channel 3 News. BUT, I do wish you two a happy retirement! Enjoy… enjoy! Travel… Travel!!!!!!!

  626. Rene'e J. Smith Says:

I have mixed emotions. Channel 3 is THE news station and the only one I am interested in. You 2 are a great part of the reason why. While I am really going to miss you two, your quips, your obvious love for the game and the way you compliment each other; I am happy that you will get to retire while you can still enjoy yourselves. Thank the Lord that He allowed you to do so and have a ball. Your shoes cannot be filled, so we’ll just set them aside. May God bless you and yours in your retirement endeavors.

    Love,
    Gran Gran

  627. Donna G Says:

I always tuned in, not only for the news, but for a laugh at the interaction between you two and your co-workers. It’s surprising how much you can learn about people just from passing remarks. Dave has such great humor and Lois could give as good as she got. Hiding the Christmas present in the kitchen because she never goes in there just cracked me up!! I will miss your easy camaraderie. Hope you enjoy retirement and I hope we will still see you once in awhile for a special story. (Loved those New Year’s Eves)!!

For all of the years of great and wonderful service that you’ve given to us, the viewers, who remember you from Day One, it has indeed been a pleasure! I hope that you get to travel to all of the places that you desire and stay in bed and sleep in until whatever time you want to. I salute the BEST News Anchor Crew in Northern California! God bless you both! Enjoy yourselves and “thanks for the memories.”

  632. Bevon R. Dowell Says:

My husband and I have watched you for years on the news and have grown to admire you and how profecient you are at your job. We now live in North Natomas and about two years ago we sat next to Lois at a Jazz concert next to Raleys and once again enjoyed seeing you. Dave and Lois – Something that I always remember as being so funny is I was watching the news one evening, a couple of years back, and we must have been having a real dry season because Dave had hoped we would get some rain soon and he said, “Maybe we’ll get lucky this evening.” Lois then turned to Dave and said, “Don’t think you’re getting lucky tonight”. I thought that was so funny. I still laugh when I think about. You will definitely be missed, but so glad you are entering the life of retirement. Take care and enjoy!

  684. Chris Cochran Says:

I’m happy to be witnessing the end of two brilliant careers, especially since I was a part of the beginning of one of them.

Lois and I started the tiny news department of then station KMST in Monterey, back in the mid-1970s. We went in different directions, but landed together again in Sacramento. I attended their wedding down by the Sacramento River, only to watch them jet off to CNN shortly after. Yet, back again they came, this time to stay.

Two nicer, unassuming, yet consumately professional people would be hard to find. Their’s is a style rarely seen now, and will be much missed.
